October 1

So here goes.. My first post ever on a yoga challenge. ‪#‎OctoberYogaSpice‬ hosted by @kinoyoga @beachyogagirl sponsored by @aloyogaCheck my friends @kaekhor, @hardkkhor and @yuuuuupeach, also on the challenge

I love balasana. It is so relaxing for me to rest in this pose as this stretches my back gently while I rest my belly on my thighs and feel it expand and shrink with the breath coming in and out, massaging my organs. Physical benefits of balasana include increased ankle mobility/flexibility, release of tension in the hip flexors and quads, and improved digestion, just to name a few.

I’m always happy to know that when I face a challenge in my practice I can come to this pose to rest and surrender myself and realize that it is okay to take a step back and chill out! Rest is just as important as work and play.

I know this pose is a challenge to some, especially when ankles, hip flexors and quads are tight. You can use a pillow or roll up a blanket, towel or a yoga mat and place it on your ankles so there is not too much weight and pressure on the ankles. Remember, it’s about the function of the pose, you do not need to look like anybody else but yourself.
